The cattle have now made a belated return to the Marshes. Most are currently in Tonford field, but some younger animals are in the boardwalk field. For the moment they are being kept out of the Whitehall Field, to protect the the orchids that have appeared there.
Despite the notices displayed in prominent places asking that dogs are kept on a lead in fields where there are cattle, some irresponsible dog owners still choose not to. Frequent disturbance can lead to a number of health issues in the cattle – and for those that are pregnant, stress can cause them to miscarry. Please keep dogs on the lead and well away from the cattle!
